Most of us expect housemaids “good at everything”, normally leaving our household chores to them, including taking care of the elderly and kids, taking up the household work, managing the living as well as catering of all family members, etc. There is a great demand for tears and sweat in between.
It is true that housemaids have long working hours as well as wide-ranging work. It is sensible to reduce their household workload in order to free them more time for taking care of the elderly. It is also important to keep a good rapport with them so as to avoid unnecessary misunderstanding or arguments. It can even lessen the need of changing housemaids. We’d bear in mind that changing housemaids may put pressure on the elderly. They may find it hard to build up a mutually trustworthy relationship with the newly employed housemaids.
Clearly enough, taking care of the elderly takes time and requires the person to harbor a detailed mind. Family members should learn to be considerate when the housemaids are to be regarded as caretakers of the elderly. They should allocate the housemaids enough time and resources to do the caretaker job better. It will bear the perfect fruits of caring in the days ahead.
